Moving Forward Service Design Event

The Moving Forward Event organised by the Moving Forward team was held on the 20 May 2008. The gathering of a large group of people from across the university turned out to be a success. There were lots of interesting and enthusiastic discussions, which resulted in a collection of highly valuable data on transition, progression and retention at GCU.

The aim was to incorporate main themes into the GCU Transition and Progression Framework. The outcomes of the Service Design Event, feedback, and comments from staff and students contributed to the development of the GCU Transition and Progression Framework. The Framework was ratified in December 2008 and a plan for the implementation of the Framework is currently being developed in collaboration with the Academic Schools and Student Services.

I had only joined GCU three weeks before the event and I was amazed how enthusiastic the discussions were and how openly experiences and examples of good practice were shared amongst the groups. This positive atmosphere was one of the best 'welcomes' anyone could hope for when starting in a new post.

The event provided a great opportunity to share ideas with colleagues from across the University. I found it very stimulating and there was a real buzz throughout the day.

great to see what many of the staff at GCU are about! Coming from the Netherlands into a very work-related university, is was interesting to think about, and hear how we can progress.
